By Sofier

Geomembrane installation quality depends on preparation and inspection as well as the sheet supplied. smooth HDPE geomembranes need an accepted supporting surface, a planned layout and a defined seam procedure. A complete installation brief should describe who checks each stage before the liner is covered or placed into service.
Geomembranes product structure

Where the layout uses textured geomembranes, surface orientation and interface requirements add further coordination. This checklist focuses on subgrade, seams and records. It does not prescribe universal welding settings, weather limits or acceptance values, which must come from the selected product and project quality plan.

Accept the subgrade first

Inspect formation, transitions and protrusions against the approved preparation requirements. Confirm any specified cushioning or protection layer. Keep the inspection record connected to the area released for lining. Once rolls cover the surface, overlooked defects become harder to identify and correct without additional handling of the membrane.

Plan panel placement

Use a layout identifying roll orientation, seams, penetrations and access routes. Review handling equipment and temporary positioning with the installer. Avoid unnecessary crossings or improvised seam locations around complicated geometry. Changes made during placement should be recorded so that the final seam map represents the installation actually inspected rather than the original drawing alone.

Establish seam controls

Identify the joining method, installer qualifications and inspection procedure required for the product. Trial work and testing should follow the project quality plan. Do not transfer machine settings from another material or thickness without verification. Record the connection between seam identification, inspection results and any corrective work.

Inspect repairs and penetrations

Give these details the same traceability as long panel seams. Identify patches, pipe interfaces and areas repaired after handling damage. The quality plan should state how each detail is accepted before concealment. A general statement that the liner has been welded does not demonstrate that every penetration and repair has completed its required checks.

Hand over a usable record

Retain product labels, layout changes, seam records and repair locations. Confirm protection during subsequent works and responsibility for final acceptance. Ask Suneco New Materials for the offered liner's technical information before installation planning, allowing the installer and reviewer to work from the same polymer, thickness and surface designation.
